• Old Venetian Harbor – The city’s main nightlife hub with cocktail bars, tavernas, wine bars, and cafés overlooking the harbor.

• Splantzia Square – A favorite among locals, offering relaxed bars, live music, and a quieter atmosphere.

• Koum Kapi – A seafront promenade lined with bars and cafés that stays lively late into the evening.

• Agia Marina and Platanias (about 10–15 km west of Chania) – Resort areas with beach bars and a more energetic late-night scene during summer. 

Is there an active cannabis scene?

While some travelers report encountering cannabis users in nightlife areas, there are no neighborhoods in Chania that are openly associated with cannabis use in the way some cities are known for legal or tolerated consumption. Public use is uncommon due to the legal risks, and police do patrol busy tourist zones.
